Mount Pleasant Coroner ID bicyclist who died after crash

The man who was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle Sunday afternoon has been identified by The Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was hit by a vehicle while cycling on Sunday afternoon.

David Murray, 64, of Mount Pleasant, passed away at 5:11 p.m. at the Medical University of South Carolina from injuries sustained in the collision, Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal reported.

The accident occurred around 4:36 p.m. near the intersection of Rifle Range Road and Ben Sawyer Boulevard, according to Sgt. Ashley Croy.

Murray was transported to a local hospital by EMS, where he later died, Croy said.

Traffic lanes heading to Sullivan’s Island from Mount Pleasant were closed for nearly three hours as officers conducted their investigation.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the crash, but no information on potential charges has been released.
